We congratulate the following schools for participating in this year´s Kick Butts Day: St. Ambrose, St. Nicholas, Minersville Jr./Sr. High School, Shenandoah Valley Jr./Sr. High School, Mahanoy Area High School, North Schuylkill Jr./Sr. High School and Pine Grove Area High School. The program included a welcome from Shannon Joy, TKN President and Matt Swatchick, Director of Student Affairs at Penn State Schuylkill; Mr. Ken Miller, a cancer survivor who discussed his experience with chew tobacco and the serious reasons for never starting or using tobacco; commercial rehearsal and performances by attending school groups; lunch and information from the American Cancer Society regarding Pennsylvania´s need for a smokeless tobacco tax. Those organizations/businesses that helped make it all possible were the American Cancer Society, helloCHANGE, the Schuylkill Haven Lions Club, NCM Media Networks, Remember When Video, Martin´s Potato Chips, Lehigh Valley Dairies, sapa: and Walmart. This event was organized by Schuylkill Teens Kickin´ Nicotine, the Schuylkill County Tobacco-Free Youth Coalition and staff at Penn State Schuylkill Campus. ![]() Mr. Ken Miller, a cancer survivor, addresses the students about his own personal experience with chew tobacco at the 2011 Kick Butts Day event. Red Ribbon Week 2010Red Ribbon Week 2010 is being celebrated October 23rd through 31st. The Red Ribbon Campaign stared in 1985 and has the mission to present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a DRUG-FREE AMERICA. Clinical Outcomes Group, Inc. in partnership with The Sunbury Broadcasting Company has once again created our annual We Care! publication.
